The photo on the right shows one of the first car washes in Germany. The 3-brush machine was made by Kleindienst in 1963.
This principle is still the base for today's Roll-over systems. Washing systems that are now well-known, such as the chain car wash and the truck wash installation, also originated in this period.
Kleindienst introduced the first chain car wash in 1964. In 1967 they presented the first portal washing system for commercial vehicles. It had a height of 3 meters and was operated manually. See the photo below.
Piece of History
Kleindienst GmbH & CO. KG was founded in 1885 by Hans Kleindienst in Augsburg. The company focused on the development of new machines to make work in laundries easier. After the turn of the century it moved from Kurzen Sachsengässchen to a bankrupt foundry on Argonstrasse in Augsburg. Unfortunately, the company was destroyed in the Second World War. Hans Kleindient Jr. continued the production of washing machines and developed a new carousel press for washing machines.
With the mass production of passenger cars, the company changed direction in 1964 and specialized in the development and production of washing tunnels and systems. With the invention of the first electrically powered three-brush portal washing system, the company achieved market leadership in Europe.
On the right you can see the first combined fully automatic car washing and drying system from 1969. In 1976, Kleindienst presented the first car wash that also specifically cleaned the wheels.
In 1996 Kleindienst merged with California Rohé GmbH to California Kleindienst. The company continues to successfully develop car washes and remains its global market leadership.
California Kleindienst merged with Wesumat Holding AG in 2000 to form WashTec AG.
